COVID-19 is continuing to have a major impact on communities in cities around the world. As you are aware we have taken the decision to postpone the inaugural Cities Summit on Childhood Obesity which was scheduled to take place in September this year.

It is more important than ever that we continue to come together to improve the health of our young people, both in the short and long term. We are not yet in a position to confirm a new date for the summit, but please be assured that we will be using this time to revisit the purpose and focus of the event, and ensure that it will be as informative and impactful as possible.

More details will be available soon.

Childhood obesity is a global problem that requires global solutions. The Cities Summit is bringing together experts from around the world to share knowledge and improve the health of young people no matter where they live.

From policy makers to healthcare professionals, urban planners to academic researchers, we will learn the 'how' and share the 'what' to make lasting change. City systems are designed and they can be redesigned, if we work together.

Join us for a unique opportunity to understand the issue of childhood obesity from different perspectives. Together we can find innovative solutions, explore how to apply them in different cities, and collaborate to make the biggest possible impact.

We know that inequality is a driving factor of childhood obesity. People around the world are testing ways to access to healthy options easier for all families - this Summit provides a platform for experts to share what's worked, what hasn't and why. We need to harness the power of communities, businesses, and political influence to find solutions that reach the most vulnerable children.

The Summit will explore how urban environments present unique challenges, where issues like poverty, lack of green spaces and an abundance of unhealthy food options all shape how we support children to maintain a healthy weight. However, cities also provide unique opportunities to intervene and create systems that support the health of all their citizens.
